This unchecked building boom is crazy. completely ruins the flavor os sf and legacy neighborhood. dont let this irreversible decision happen. The Land Use Committee, on a vote of 2-1, has blocked Supervisor Chan's amendments and its Chair declined to invite HCD, the state oversight agency, to answer questions publicly. The Committee must advance these compliant amendments for the protection of sound housing, historic resources, and our coastline to the full Board so the public can see where every Supervisor stands. HCD leadership should also appear before the Board to explain how the housing numbers are calculated and how the proposed upzoning affects compliance. San Franciscans deserve transparent and accountable planning. Dear Board of Supervisors, As a San Franciscan, born and raised here in North Beach, I strongly oppose Mayor Lurie's plan, which incentivizes the demolition of existing homes, displacement of renters and small businesses, and transformation of our neighborhoods into unaffordable luxury high-rise corridors. We call on you to: -Drastically scale back the Mayor’s upzoning maps -Request a postponement of the arbitrary January 2026 upzoning deadline Mayor Lurie’s upzoning maps would impose permanent, irreversible changes to San Francisco’s land use — going far beyond what is required, with zero affordability guarantees. Together, these plans clear the way for mass demolition and luxury towers, prioritizing the interests of developers and billionaire investors while silencing the voices of the very communities they are supposed to represent. This is not planning — it is displacement disguised as progress. Increasing density will be hard to to without evicting and displacing current tenants and small businesses and demolishing the buildings they already occupy --including the one that I occupy. Therefore, I strongly oppose Mayor Lurie's plan, which incentivizes this demolition of existing homes, displacement of renters and small businesses, and transformation of our neighborhoods into unaffordable luxury high-rise corridors. I am also an environmentalist, and I do not agree that evictions, displacement, and demolition are effective ways to protect the environment. From: lrb louisbiro.com To: Board of Supervisors (BOS) Subject: Support for Tenant Protection Amendments in North Beach Family Zoning Plan Date: Monday, November 24, 2025 8:34:47 PM Dear Board of Supervisors, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express our strong support for all amendments aimed at protecting tenants within the proposed family zoning plan. As you consider the upzoning changes, it is crucial to prioritize the needs and rights of the current tenants in our community. North Beach is not just a neighborhood; it is a vibrant community rich in history and diversity. We believe that the amendments designed to safeguard tenant rights will enhance our neighborhood's resilience, ensuring that long-standing residents can continue to call North Beach home. The proposed family zoning plan offers a promising opportunity for growth and development in our area, but this growth should not come at the expense of our community's residents. It is vital that we create an inclusive environment that respects the contributions of all who live here, particularly those who have built their lives in North Beach over the years. We appreciate your attention to this matter and urge you to consider our support for these important amendments. Protecting tenants is essential for maintaining the character and culture of our beloved North Beach community. Thank you for your time and consideration.
