Setting Public Hearing On Local Law Introductory Number 2 of 2025
(A Local Law Amending Local Law Number 4 of 2023 Which Relates To Authorizing 12- And 13-Year-Old Licensed Hunters To Hunt Deer With A Firearm Or Crossbow During Hunting Season With The Supervision Of A Licensed Adult)

WHEREAS, the purpose of Local Law Introductory Number 2 of 2025 is to amend Local Law Number 4 of 2023, which relates to authorizing 12- and 13-year-old licensed hunters to hunt deer with a firearm or crossbow during hunting season with the supervision of a licensed adult through December 31st, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the reason for the amendment is to continue allowing 12- and 13-year-old licensed hunters to hunt deer with a firearm or crossbow during hunting season with the supervision of a licensed adult by extending the hunting season beginning the Fall of 2026 for any period of time that the State Legislature extends Environmental Conservation Law ?11-0935; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 20 of the Municipal Home Rule Law, a Public Hearing is required to be held concerning Local Law Introductory Number 2 of 2025, a Local Law extending the hunting season for 12- and 13-year-old licensed hunters to hunt deer with a firearm or crossbow with the supervision of a licensed adult beginning the Fall of 2026, for any period of time that the State Legislature extends Environmental Conservation Law ?11-0935.;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that said Local Law Introductory Number 2 of 2025 is hereby submitted to the Greene County Legislature and is hereby postponed, pending the holding of a Public Hearing thereon, to the next Regular meeting of this Legislature; and be it further
RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Legislature be directed to cause a legal notice of said public hearing to be published in the official newspaper within ten (10) days of adoption of this resolution and at least five (5) days prior to date of said hearing and to be posted in an appropriate location; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said Public Hearing shall be held in the 4th Floor Legislative Chambers, Greene County Office Building, 411 Main Street, Catskill, New York 12414 on Wednesday, August 20th, 2025 at 6:20 p.m.
