title RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE AWARD OF GRANTS UNDER ROUND 1 OF THE PASSAIC COUNTY AMERICA 250 MINI-GRANT PROGRAM, PURSUANT TO N.J.S.A. 40:20-1. body WHEREAS, the County of Passaic (hereafter "County") is a body politic and corporate pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:18-1 and vested with all rights contained therein; and WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1 the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic (hereafter "Board") is vested with managing the property, finances, and affairs of the County; and WHEREAS, the Passaic County Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs has established the Passaic County America 250 Mini-Grant Program to support local organizations, museums, historical societies, schools, and community groups in developing programs, exhibits, educational initiatives, public events, and interpretive projects commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the America 250 Mini-Grant Program is to promote community engagement, historical education, and cultural tourism throughout Passaic County in advance of the national America 250 celebration; and WHEREAS, applications submitted under Round 1 of the Program were reviewed and evaluated by the Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs based on program eligibility, project impact, historic significance, public accessibility, and alignment with the goals of the Passaic County America 250 initiative; and WHEREAS, following this review, the Department recommends the award of grants to the organizations and projects listed below, each of which advances the mission and objectives of the America 250 initiative within Passaic County: 1. Borough of Haledon - Haledon Day 2026: Honoring the Past, Celebrating the Future - $12,000.00. 2. Township of West Milford - West Milford Community Day & 4th of July Fireworks - $12,000.00. 3. Hamilton Partnership for Paterson - Paterson Great Falls America250 Community Mural - $10,000.00. 4. Ringwood Public Library - America 250 Event Series - $8,030. 5. Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center - Yogi & the Presidents: An American Life in the National Pastime Exhibit - $13,000.00. 6. Paterson Arts & Science Charter School - 250 Years Forward: Empowering the Next Generation of American Innovators & Storytellers - $10,000.00. 7. Joseph A. Taub Middle School - Voices of Passaic County: 250 Years of American Stories Through Art, History, and Student Voice - $10,000.00. 8. Highlands Nature Friends - National Register Nomination for New Weis Center & Complex - $3,750.00. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Passaic hereby authorizes the award of grants under Round 1 of the Passaic County America 250 Mini-Grant Program to the organizations and projects listed above, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:20-1; and LET IT BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board, County Counsel, and Director of the Board of County Commissioners are authorized to execute the contract and take any other steps necessary to carry out the purpose of this Resolution.
